James Dornan MSP condemns the proposed closure of eight jobcentres
James Dornan MSP condemns the proposed closure of eight jobcentres in Glasgow, including offices in Castlemilk and Langside which are in the Cathcart constituency.
James Dornan MSP said:
“I consider this proposal to be a vicious attack on the most vulnerable in our society. Jobcentres act not only as a place to seek employment but as a source of economic information. When people face unemployment or other such life-altering circumstances they require all the support that government and society can provide.”
“I urge the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Damian Green, to reconsider these proposals as a matter of urgency.”
Mr Dornan is currently looking at how he can support those in his constituency who would be affected by these closures which includes hosting a practical event to support people seeking employment.
