Pollok Country Park nominated in the Fields in Trust UK’s Best Park, as voted by YOU! 2016 Award
I am delighted that Pollok Country Park has been nominated in the Fields in Trust UK’s Best Park, as voted by YOU! 2016 Award. Fields in Trust have been protecting vital outdoor space for sport and recreation since 1925 when they were founded as the National Playing Fields Association, by King George V.
They currently safeguard over 254 sites, including playgrounds, playing fields, and formal and informal parkland across 5,000 acres of Scotland.
The UK’s Best Park Award gives the public the opportunity to vote for their favourite local green space; the public vote will run until the 9th November. The top park in each of Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland will be shortlisted before the winner is announced at the Fields in Trust Awards Ceremony at Lord's Cricket Ground in London on 30th November.
These green spaces are vital to building happy and healthy communities and sadly continue to be threatened by all kinds of development.
Fields in Trust is a national charity operating throughout the UK to safeguard recreational spaces and campaigning for better statutory protection for all kinds of outdoor sites.
